Megan McCafferty is a flutist and educator based in the northeast. She is dedicated to using music as a powerful tool to forge deep and meaningful connections with people. Megan is an active solo and chamber music performer. Currently Megan is pursuing her Masters Degree at Manhattan School of Music studying with Linda Chesis. Her wind quintet, Hydra Winds, is coached by Valerie Coleman.

Megan made her Carnegie Hall Solo-Debut at age 17 as a first prize winner of the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition. Since then she has toured Europe in exchange programs and participated in numerous summer programs such as Mostly Modern Festival and The Anatomy of Sound. In 2019 Megan debuted “Resolve” by Clint Needham with the Factory Seconds Brass Trio from the Cleveland Orchestra and Interlochen Arts Academy Band in Carnegie Hall. She recently premiered Julia Wolfe’s flute choir “Oxygen” at the 2022 National Flute Association Convention in Chicago, IL. She additionally participated in the Boston premiere of this work at the Boston Flute Festival.

Megan graduated from Boston Conservatory in 2023 with her Bachelors of Music in flute performance and a minor in instrument repair. She additionally graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 2019. Her past teachers include Sarah Brady, Diana Morgan, Nancy Stagnitta, and Terri Sundberg. Megan has performed in masterclasses for Jim Walker, Paula Robison, Alberto Almarza, Lorna McGhee, Sharon Sparrow, Demarre McGill, and more to further her education. Megan prioritizes the representation of women in music and has made it her mission to commission works from female composers about the experience of being a woman in society. In addition to her studies, Megan works as the Content Manager and Sales Coordinator at Flutistry.

In her free time, Megan enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time with her dogs. You can always find Megan on the search for the best gluten free restaurant and taking pictures of any dog she sees on the streets. Megan is honored to represent Haynes Flutes as a Haynes Young Artist.
