Jessica Schury maintains an active career as an educator and chamber musician. Jessica currently serves as the Instructor of Flute at West Texas A&M University. Previously, Jessica served as the flute professor at Collin College and was a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas. Jessica is on faculty and the administrator of Carol Wincenc’s Creating Resonance Retreat and she is the co-founder of the online education platform, Flute Foundations.
Jessica has been named a prizewinner in various competitions across the United States including the National Flute Association Baroque Flute Masterclass Competition, the Austin Flute Society Collegiate Young Artist Competition, and the Mid-South Young Artist Competition. Jessica was named a quarterfinalist in the 2023 NFA Young Artist Competition.
As an avid chamber musician and enjoys performing a wide range of music, both as a baroque flutist and a lover of new music. Jessica performs in several chamber ensembles such as The Pan-Tones, a multiple flute, guitar, and drum band; Duo Sonation, a flute and oboe duo; and Vox Venti, a flute quartet.
Jessica is completing her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas with a related field in music theory. She received her Master of Music from Stony Brook University and her Bachelor of Music and Music Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Her primary teachers include Terri Sundberg, Janet See, Amy Taylor, Carol Wincenc, Dr. Kimberly Reighley, and Robin Kani.
Jessica is honored to represent the Wm. S. Haynes Company as a Haynes Young Artist.
